Alert! Beware TM postings from Juliana Locke/Adria Simon/Claire Bennett/Bonnie Griffing

Saturday, April 30, 2011

The Trade Market fraudster cited in this post is back using a different IP, Paypal and email address. What scum. Scammers are pathetic, deplorable excuses for human beings that have nothing better to do than trick people out of their money.

Some aliases (I'm willing to bet none of these are the person's actual name):
Juliana Locke
Adria Simon
Claire Bennett
Bonnie Griffing
Emily Griffing
Tracy with email address

Some alias emails:

Beware the same seller posting any/all of the following items:
Draped Pumps
Torsade Tee XS
Wind Rippled Tee
Gathered Alyssum Dress

- Ask for actual photos of the item
- If you don't hear from a seller for more than 5 days, file a Paypal claim
- Beware deals that seem to good to be true
- Be wary of sellers posting items for sale on behalf of their sister/mother/friend/etc

And above all, report any deals that go south to me so I can track patterns. The local police have been contacted about this seller and a case file is open. If you have been a victim of this fraudster, you need to contact the police. Please email me to find out how.

The weekend in-store community post

Friday, April 29, 2011

Note: New posts run below this one.

I have noticed a lot of community members sharing in-store deals and spots in the comments of various posts. Inspired by the weekly Seek & Find posts started by the lovely Alexis over at J.Crew Aficionada, I think now is a good time to start a similar weekly post here.

This post is for community members to trade information. You can ask for help in finding an item, report back on what you saw in-store at your local Anthro, ask general questions, make a request, or just stop by to say hello. I love how helpful this community can be! Please note that items for sale belong in the Trade Market, as do 'looking to find' requests for past season items. Comments that erroneously get posted in this thread will be deleted.

Some FAQs....
- What does "sub" mean?It means that people are subscribing to the comment thread. You can do this by either clicking the small RSS icon at the top right of the comments section or by selecting either subscribe to "all new comments" or "replies" in the comment box in the comment form.
- Someone in the comments said they wanted to buy an item from me, but it's been x hours and I haven't heard squat. What should I do?I give people 24 hours for the benefit of the doubt. After that move on to the next person that contacted you.
- Someone said they returned an item at the store 20 minutes ago but I just called the store and it's gone. What gives?!?
A store associate might have taken a fancy to it or a customer might have grabbed it. Maybe it's just at the bottom of a big ol'pile. Unfortunately, you're out of luck.

Leifsdottir will become part of Anthropologie

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Leifsdottir and its creative team are coming home to Anthropologie. Urban Outfitters, owner of both concepts, announced yesterday that Anthropologie will be the exclusive home of Leifsdottir once spring deliveries are complete. Additionally, Johanna Uurasjarvi, Creative Director for Leifsdottir, will return to the Anthropologie brand as the Executive Creative Director of Anthropologie Product Design.

From the press release:
Today Urban Outfitters announced that the Leifsdottir brand will be sold exclusively at Anthropologie stores and through its direct-to-consumer business, and will discontinue wholesale distribution with the conclusion of spring deliveries. Johanna Uurasjarvi, Creative Director for Leifsdottir, will return to the Anthropologie brand as the Executive Creative Director of Anthropologie Product Design. "We believe this change gives us the best opportunity to maximize the brand equity of the Leifsdottir label, and we are excited to welcome Johanna back to the Anthropologie business," said Glen T. Senk, Chief Executive Officer. The Company expects to record one-time costs of approximately $2.7 million in the first quarter of the current fiscal year for the disposal of certain Leifsdottir assets, disposition of inventory and other related costs.

Does this mean that Leifsdottir couldn't stand on its own as a wholesale product? Not really. The marketing efforts for the brand have stepped up over the last two quarters and retail orders have been healthy by all accounts. More likely is that this is part of the continuing strategy shift for Anthropologie that recently saw Barney's New York executive Judy Collinson come on board as Anthro's Executive Director of Women's Apparel. Personally I'm very excited to welcome Ms. Uurasjarvi back into the fold. I've long adored her designs both for Anthro and Leifsdottir.

Urban Outfitters also snuck in some quick quarterly reporting: quarter-to-date comparable retail segment sales through the Easter holiday weekend were low single-digit negative. Eep. Not surprising but not great news either. Who would have thought that Free People would be the concept driving sales at Urban Outfitters? I can't wait to see Anthro's design team turn it around. This shapeless boxy stuff is driving me nuts.

What do you think about Anthropologie becoming Leifsdottir's once-and-again exclusive home?

Eye Candy: Anthropologie May 2011 Catalogue

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Well well well. Look which top finally made Anthropologie's website!! It's been officially dubbed the Eyeleted Corset Top ($98, review in this post and styled here) and I can't say enough great things about the top. It stays in place all day which is no small feat and it's shaped to flatter. Most of my favorite new arrivals didn't get the catalogue treatment: the Butterfly Net Dress ($158); the Frida Maxi Dress ($148) and the Upepo Tank ($68) among them.

Plenty more eye candy below...what do you think of this month's looks? Are you adding anything to your wishlist?

Love this. A bit of classic Anthropologie design rendered in beautiful boldness.
